The Sky ~ Shoot 2
Plans for shoot:
my plan for this shoot is to photograph different skylines from different viewpoints within an urban landscape, London, i aim to capture different aspects of both the architecture of London and how i can manipulate viewpoints using the buildings and their windows to reflect the clouds of the sky. Within this shoot i also plan to use different shapes to reveal certain views, for example, taking an image through a window or from a reflection
Research influence
my shoot is influenced by many artists as i aim to mix all their styles of photography into mine, this included Stephen Shore,Edward Steichen Brian Eno, and Masahisa Fukase

My Best images (target 4 - 6),
my aim for this picture was to show that reflections can be powerful and by doing this, i altered the brightness and contrast on the reflection of the clouds on the building |
i used framing for this image, by doing this it gave my image more depth and by adding a sepia filter tone, the image was given an old black and white feel |
when editing this image, i decided to experiment with the lines within this image in an attempt to give it an unrealistic look by also using the formal element of line. |
i decided to make this image look like a painting to show how the clouds paint the sky and how the sky is a blank canvas that the clouds use to create unique formations |
Images that require improvement
i felt this image was too cloudy to use within this shoot |
i felt this image wasn't very interesting and the crane/construction vehicle made the image look bad in my point of view |
i felt that this image is too dark |
AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.
my idea for this shoot was to photography the sky within urban landscapes and unique perspectives, My idea for recording the sky was to take images similar to my research influences cloud series, and to focus on creating my own interpretations of their work. I was inspired by the work of all my researched artists by their methods of taking photos, and by what they captured within their work but with my own individuality.
With reference to my best images, I feel that although I could not create photographs exactly like my artists photos, I did create a set that was in the style of their work but with my own interpretation of the sky in an urban landscape, in this case the city of London.
AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.
first 6 images taken on iPhone 8, all other images taken on Fuji-film Fine-pix S9500.
below are visual examples of my editing processes
i edited this images in the way that i have to add an almost old timely look to it by altering the colour balance to a red shift. |
AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
(Here you will discuss how you developed your work based on your research of e.g. artists/photographers, etc).
my edits developed over time in term of my technique of editing as i started to experiment more with my images, my research of my artists helped with this progression, as within their sets of images, no two are the same, so i followed this ideology within my own work by experimenting more.
AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
my final set of images were all produced in different ways and these processes are shown within my AO2 section.
Final Images
Progression: you must refer to what you will do next to improve on either the shoot you have done or how you will develop your project in the next shoot.
